Two out of three accidents would go unreported
Two out of three accidents are not reported: “It may be that the worker does not want to report the accident for fear of reprisals, or to avoid committing a crime. Or sometimes, it is pressure from employers”, analyses the prevention consultant.
Temporary workers most affected
Another observation remains valid year after year: temporary workers are most often affected by work-related accidents. “The temp can work in an office, in industry or in commerce. He changes jobs often. He doesn’t always have the information he needs before starting work. He is not used to his work environment. He is twice as likely according to statistics to have an accident at work. The company is expected to write a job description that describes the task and the risks involved. Unfortunately, these sheets are not written or the work has already started”, regrets the trade union representative.
