Conditions of the musculoskeletal system
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) cover a wide range of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which may be caused or aggravated by work activity.
Musculoskeletal disorders are pathologies with diverse and often multiple causes that can sometimes appear without work being involved (endocrine diseases, pregnancy, extra-occupational activities…), but it is above all a widespread problem of work-related morbidity.
MSDs are by far the leading cause of compensated occupational diseases. The beginnings of this “epidemic” were announced in France at the beginning of the 1990s with the regular increase in occupational diseases compensated by both the general social security system and the agricultural system.
