Low back pain accounts for 20% of work-related accidents.
And the number of work-related low back pain has not decreased over the past 10 years despite the decline in claims: their share of work-related injuries rose from 13% to 19% between 2005 and 2015.
They cost nearly one billion euros per year, equivalent to the cost of other musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). And this represents an average of two months’ absence from work and commuting accidents and an average of one year for occupational diseases.
